Mouse to the lower right corner &gt; Settings &gt; Power icon &gt; choose shutdown method.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Clean Install of Windows 7 on GPT Partition Disc<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ignore all the stuff you see on the web telling you to disable UEFI, installing from boot media won&#8217;t work if UEFI is disabled. \u00c2\u00a0Instead, go into the bios, enable UEFI but disable secure boot, then change the boot media order to boot from CD. \u00c2\u00a0Voila.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Clean Install of Windows 7 &#8211; Product Key Activation Error<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you get an error that your (completely valid and legit) product key can only be used to upgrade the operating system but can&#8217;t be used for a clean install, you can change a registry setting to get around this issue. \u00c2\u00a0(Thanks to <a href=\"http:\/\/lifehacker.com\/5984278\/how-to-do-a-clean-install-of-windows-8-with-an-upgrade-disc\" target=\"_blank\">LifeHacker for the steps<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li data-textannotation-id=\"f60f4b6bae5aa951042c903911e92605\">Press the Windows key and type\u00c2\u00a0<code>regedit<\/code>. Press enter to open the Registry Editor.<\/li>\n<li data-textannotation-id=\"71bd97b003cbcbcd2caa93af2f8f3e85\">Navigate to<code>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\/Software\/Microsoft\/Windows\/CurrentVersion\/Setup\/OOBE\/<\/code>and double-click on the\u00c2\u00a0<code>MediabootInstall<\/code>\u00c2\u00a0key in the right pane.<\/li>\n<li data-textannotation-id=\"332c7f7fa173474c8db7b67e9d8b6db3\">Change the key&#8217;s value from 1 to 0.<\/li>\n<li data-textannotation-id=\"1229cf4207de7c8482d3f5a3cfbff300\">Exit the Registry Editor, press the Windows key again, and type\u00c2\u00a0<code>cmd<\/code>. Right-click on the Command Prompt icon and run it as an administrator.<\/li>\n<li data-textannotation-id=\"3a63ac9d522556ed9245083053e52542\">Type\u00c2\u00a0<code>slmgr \/rearm<\/code>\u00c2\u00a0and press Enter.<\/li>\n<li data-textannotation-id=\"4c3b7f40d0db3f525bc03889002b0abd\">Reboot Windows.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Let us hope this ends my nightmare experience with Windows 8, which I shall endeavor to avoid like the plague for as long as possible.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Image courtesy burkeyavademy.blogspot.com.
