Intel Sez Plant Sunflowers

Intel recently launched a new initiative aimed at Second Life residents – visit their island and plant sunflowers. For every sunflower planted, they will donate $1USD to the Conservation International Foundation, up to $10,000. Participants from the US and Canada are also entered into a sweepstakes contest to win a notebook computer. It’s interesting to see companies changing their Second Life strategies to create spaces and builds that take advantage of SL’s capabilities. Not sure how many people have participated so far, but I’m betting they’ll hit the $10k goal in no time.

HTML on a Prim

After downloading the latest Release Candidate, I logged in to see how this HTML on a Prim would work. Kind of convoluted to have it as a media type that you have to “play” and there’s no live interactivity with links and whatnot, but hey! My webpage directly on a prim! With no snapshots! And from the clock in the upper right corner, it appears to be updating in real time! Omg! Yay!

Windlight Disease

At some point I’m going to have to figure out how to readjust my settings so poor Fleep doesn’t have the Windlight Diseased look. Yes the water looks brilliant and beautiful, but my face looks horrid! Even with a 2gig RAM upgrade and a 512mb video card?? I must be doing something wrong. =(

From Looker Lumet’s blog comes information about the Virtual Palomar West Hospital in Second Life.
